Results & Payments
How and when will I get my results?
Your scan will be reviewed by a qualified Consultant Radiologist or reporting radiographer. Results are available via a secure online portal within 72 hours. Faster turnaround times are available at additional cost, with same day or 24hrs results.
What happens if you find something urgent?
If a scan reveals a serious or urgent finding, our radiologists will follow an escalation pathway. We will contact you immediately and advise you to seek medical attention or consult your GP.
What is your cancellation policy?
Rescheduling your appointment is free of charge, provided you contact us at least 24 hours before your scheduled time. Any rescheduling within 24 hours of your appointment will incur a £25 administration fee, unless there is an urgent reason for the change.
If you cancel your appointment with at least 48 hours notice, you are eligible for a refund, minus a £25 administration fee.
If you cancel your appointment with less than 48 hours notice, or if you miss or arrive late for your scan, your payment is non-refundable.
Note
Clinical Rejection: If we decline your scan for safety reasons after reviewing your form, a full refund will be issued.
If we have to decline your scan for safety reasons arising from a condition or the presence of an implant not disclosed on the booking procedure a partial refund, minus administrative fees, may be issued.
How quickly will I receive my results?
Speed is a core part of our service. A specialist Consultant Radiologist will review your images, and a detailed report will typically be sent to you or your clinician within 24–72 hours depending on the service requested.
Safety & Preparation
Who should NOT have an MRI?
Certain medical implants are contraindicated and may prevent us from proceeding. These include:
- Pacemakers (both MR Unsafe and MR Conditional models): NHI does not have the support of a Cardiac team to be able to safely perform MRI scans on MR Conditional models.
- Certain Cochlear implants, programmable shunts, or certain nerve stimulators.
- Metallic fragments in the eyes or shrapnel injuries when the metal fragment is still in place.
What should I wear?
Please wear loose, metal-free clothing (no zippers, jewelry, or underwire bras). We will provide a gown if your clothing is unsuitable.
Is the scan noisy?
MRI machines use strong magnetic fields and are naturally noisy, producing loud knocking or buzzing sounds. We provide ear protection and music to make you as comfortable as possible.
What does the scan feel like?
MRI is a painless, non-invasive procedure. You will hear a series of loud tapping or buzzing noises while the images are being taken. We provide high-quality headphones with music to make the experience more comfortable.
How long will I be there?
The scan itself typically lasts 20 to 30 minutes per body part. Because we are a private clinic, we pride ourselves on punctuality; we ask that you arrive 15 minutes early to complete your safety screening. Please note that arriving more than 15 minutes late may result in a cancellation.
