Your Visit to Headingley Stadium
Where do I go when I arrive?
The MRI unit is a relocatable suite located at AMT Headingley Stadium.Yes the Leeds Rhinos’s stadium! Upon arrival, please head to the MRI unit and let our staff know you have arrived. There will be an option for you to wait at a reception area within the stadium with a cafeteria if you wish. We recommend arriving 15 minutes early. Please note that arriving more than 15 minutes late may result in a cancellation.
Are there facilities for relatives or waiting patients?
Yes. Unlike many mobile units, our patients have access to the stadium’s indoor waiting area and cafeteria. You can relax with a coffee before or after your appointment. Fully accessible toilets are also available on-site.
Is there parking?
Yes, dedicated parking is available for patients. We will provide specific parking instructions in your booking confirmation email.
Safety & Preparation
Who should NOT have an MRI?
Certain medical implants are contraindicated and may prevent us from proceeding. These include:
- Pacemakers (both MR Unsafe and MR Conditional models): NHI does not have the support of a Cardiac team to be able to safely perform MRI scans on MR Conditional models.
- Certain Cochlear implants, programmable shunts, or certain nerve stimulators.
- Metallic fragments in the eyes or shrapnel injuries when the metal fragment is still in place.
What should I wear?
Please wear loose, metal-free clothing (no zippers, jewelry, or underwire bras). We will provide a gown if your clothing is unsuitable.
Is the scan noisy?
MRI machines use strong magnetic fields and are naturally noisy, producing loud knocking or buzzing sounds. We provide ear protection and music to make you as comfortable as possible.
What does the scan feel like?
MRI is a painless, non-invasive procedure. You will hear a series of loud tapping or buzzing noises while the images are being taken. We provide high-quality headphones with music to make the experience more comfortable.
How long will I be there?
The scan itself typically lasts 20 to 30 minutes per body part. Because we are a private clinic, we pride ourselves on punctuality; we ask that you arrive 15 minutes early to complete your safety screening. Please note that arriving more than 15 minutes late may result in a cancellation.
